Feeding Other Systems

Banks usually have a variety of systems for specialised functions and there is always a demand to share or move data between them. This could include:

  • Branches feeding data to Head Office
  • Supplying data to Regulatory reporting systems
  • Supplying data to other specialist MIS systems e.g. ALM,
  • .. all of which require accurate, timely, granular data.

Typically this means many point-to-point interfaces which are costly to create and even more costly to maintain as systems change.

  • An extract process needs to be created in each system from which data is required.
  • Then an import process needs to be created for each of the extracts in each system that requires the data.

With Huma BI, everything is much simpler,

  • First, no processes are required in source systems – the ETL knows where to find the data and reads it as and when required
  • Second, as data is fully de-normalised it is much easier to provide required data in any format to other systems. ETL can easily be written to supply this data.
