Databases are not ideal for users to use directly, so Huma BI has created Data Marts.
These contain data from the database but organised in multi-dimensional cubes which replace “traditional” reporting packages. Huma BI processes automatically read the database, keeping them up-to-date.
Data Marts are several cubes grouped by business function to provide departments with all the data to meet their particular need, both at a summary level and with drills to the underlying detail.
With default views supplied they allow bank staff to start viewing their data immediately, then slicing/dicing to perform their own analysis and create their own views. Powerful and intuitive tools mean that minimal training is required and staff can be productive very quickly.
In the database and data marts, all data is fully reconciled and controlled, with security, logging and audit trails.
Data Marts are currently implemented in TM1 from IBM-Cognos. For the reasons we chose this software, click here.
However, Data Marts could be provided with a different OLAP tool (e.g. Microsoft SQL Analysis Services) if clients prefer.
